Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained
What are your expectations for this coming season? Are you throwing your beloved Raptors in the same scenario as the Leafs? Coming off mediocre (at best) season for both teams, most people see this coming season as a rebuilding one. Not expecting a lot of wins, try to grab a high draft pick, use the trade exception acquired in the Chris Bosh departure and try to look forward to something in the coming years. However head coach Jay Triano is thinking about right now, and what they can accomplish this upcoming season. Jay sat down with The Fan 590 radio station to talk about things to come. Last year The Raptors had one go to guy, every team knew at crunch time the ball was most likely going to be in Chris Bosh's hands. This year "all the players have to step it up" Jay said. "Its going to be more of a team role, (other) teams aren't going to be able to figure out where were going and whose gonna be getting the ball". The head coach also revealed a change in defensive scheme. Saying that last year the main focus was defending the paint, this year the idea will be to clog passing lanes and disrupt opponents offensive flow. This will lead to fast-break, easy buckets that will favor The Raptors young athletic players.
Either way, hardcore Toronto basketball fans are almost exactly like Leaf fans. No matter how the team is doing they'll be there, through thick and thin. Curious to see if this group of young, underestimated athletes will prove the critics wrong as the underdog or crash and burn.

Honestly i am worried about the Raptors future in Toronto.... They don't have the fan backing that the Leafs do... The Raptors need to start winning and winning a lot if they want to keep the franchise in Toronto. What started as a promising year last year, ending in a ugly slide to leave them out side the playoff picture... Now with our super star bosh gone i don't see light at the end of the tunnel.

ReplyDeleteOur expectations for this year, are that it's going to be the same as every year. We are all going to have the mentality that Toronto teams will take over the world and every year we are sadly disappointed. But, Toronto's pride will never die. Even though we loose, next year everyone pushes that to the side and has high hopes for the upcoming season.
ReplyDeleteSometime soon, when our teams gain experience with players that are consistent and work well together, we will win the playoffs in a National League.

I will be watching the Raptors closely this year. I believe that they will be a stronger team this year without Bosh because now they will focus on team play and "Just pass the ball to Bosh". Will say this though. When the Heat come to town, the ACC will be sold out just so people can curse him out!
ReplyDeleteI think that anytime you have a franchise player leave the team, it is going to be hard to rebound from. However, the Raptors have a young team, a couple of useful free agent signings helped, and hopefully a push for a playoff run isn't too unrealistic.
ReplyDeleteThe Raptors are in for one of their toughest seasons ever. They have a very young, inexperienced team who just lost their franchise player. Now they’re stuck with a bunch of mediocre players who’re supposed to be better than they are for the time they’ve been in the league. This year the Raptors are going to probably have the worst record in the in their franchise history and in the NBA. Last year it was the Nets but this year it's going to be the Raptors. If I go to watch a game this season it's probably going to be because I want to see the opposing team play; for example, the Lakers or Miami. I hope they can prove me wrong and do better than I expect them too but right now I don’t expect much from them. If they win at least 15 games this season I’ll applaud them. That's a funny picture still lol because that's how they're going to be at the end of the season with Calderon holding Bargnani's head asking coach Triano "what did we do wrong" lol
